History of the Hillsboro Rotary Club

Our Founding

Founded on March 13, 1923, The Rotary Club of Hillsboro, Oregon has grown to become a community of active professionals who are passionate about service and global citizenship.  We provide professionals in the greater Hillsboro area an opportunity to serve their community, network, meet new amazing friends, and have fun!

Service Above Self

Hillsboro Rotary Club is a service-oriented club. The professionals that make up our membership are passionate about serving their local, and global communities. In Rotary language, Hillsboro members put ‘Service Above Self’.

The members of the Rotary Club of Hillsboro participate in service projects in their greater community, as well as internationally, based on the interest of members. Examples of service projects include our Adopt-a-Park project at Rood Bridge, being involved with the Oregon Food Bank by donating and sorting food, giving our time and money to get the Washington County Family Justice Center off the ground, repairing and donating gently used bikes to low-income children, purchasing new textbooks and graphing calculators for local schools, and donating text books to schools in Uganda and the Philippines.

Being a Rotarian also offers members the opportunity to travel to foreign countries. By teaming up with local Rotary clubs in a particular foreign country, the Rotary Club of Hillsboro is able to leverage its resources and provide essential services to individuals in that community. For example, Hillsboro Rotarians have built clean and sustainable water systems for two villages in Peru. We have also worked in health clinics in Africa to distribute Polio vaccinations as part of Rotary International’s End Polio Now project to eradicate polio.
